[opensuse] Fw: readline-devel-32bit missing libreadline.a, unable to build readline support for python
Hello, I’m trying to get readline support but unfortunately: linux-gbnm:/usr/local/src/phpsh # easy_install readline Searching for readline Reading http://pypi.python.org/simple/readline/ Reading http://www.python.org/ Reading http://github.com/ludwigschwardt/python-readline Download error: unknown url type: https -- Some packages may not be found! Best match: readline 6.2.2 Downloading http://pypi.python.org/packages/source/r/readline/readline-6.2.2.tar.gz#md5=... Processing readline-6.2.2.tar.gz Running readline-6.2.2/setup.py -q bdist_egg --dist-dir /tmp/easy_install-Gn3cZs/readline-6.2.2/egg-dist-tmp-uYSXpe gcc: readline/libreadline.a: No such file or directory gcc: readline/libhistory.a: No such file or directory error: Setup script exited with error: command 'gcc' failed with exit status 1 It’s appears both development files were removed from readline-devel after openSUSE 11.3 and openSUSE 11.4 doesn’t appear to be shipped with a python-readline package either. how do I get readline support in Python? It is default part of your python installation (just invoke "import readline" in python to use it) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
Hello, I am not a Python developer myself, I am just using a Python software that needed Python with Readline support. For some apparent reason when I 'zypper in python', 'python-base' was the only package that got installed. 'python-base' didn't pull 'python-2.7-8.2.x86_64', odd. Everything is squared away now.
