Perhaps you have a corrupted man page index. Compare /var/catman/index.{bt|db|dir} between a good and bad system. Jim

I understand gdbm is the database used by apropos. There must be an error when reading it. I heard of that error time ago, but I don't remember exactly why it was. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
