[SLE] SuSE Linux 6.4 eval ISO available
Hi, JFYI: the ISO image of the SuSE Linux 6.4 evaluation CD is now available on ftp.suse.com and it's mirrors. As usual, it ships with KDE, Netscape and a lot of additional goodies like the new YaST2 installation and configuration tool. There are no strings attached, except that you only get one sixth of the fun and no printed manuals or free installation support. You can download it from here: ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/evaluation-6.4.iso The MD5 sum for this file is "48c6f9af50653d28d611395d1e5faacd". Please use a mirror site like SourceForge if possible, to reduce the load on our primary site, thank you! http://download.sourceforge.net/pub/suse/suse/i386/evaluation-6.4.iso Enjoy! Is there a HOW-TO on changing over from SuSE 6.1 to SuSE 6.4? I can download the ISO at work and burn it to a CD, but do I have to be concerned about the libraries that ship on the ISO? I do some development work in C++ using G++, so I am assuming that I'd be missing the updated compilers and everything. I will probably just order 6.4 anyway, but I'd be curious if it is workable to use the iso image to update my system to the newest glibc (or whatever it is called now) Stuart On Thu, 20 Apr 2000 16:04:16 +0200 (CEST), you wrote:

You can try to update. If your SuSE Linux 6.1 was also a evaluation CD, it should work. If it was a full version, I doubt that the resulting system is usefull. To many programs and libraries will not be updated, so a lot of dependencies will break. It is incredibly powerful, gives terse, cryptic answers and has a lot of things going on in the background. -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
