Anyway, I still can't get the card configured. I tried setting it up as a network card in YaST2 (and I checked PCMCIA) but no joy. I see that there are several config files in /etc/sysconfig and /etc/pcmcia but I'm at a total loss as to what to configure, especially since it seems that the correct driver is already loaded as a module.
I would really appreciate any help you can give.
When you insert the card does it emit two high beeps or a high beep and then low beep. 2 high beeps is good - it means the driver loaded successfully, otherwise bad. assuming two beeps - if you do an "ifconfig -a" you should see an extra ethernet interface - say eth1 - thats your wireless card iwconfig eth1 would show the wireless config settings man iwconfig will tell you how to apply your settings to them.
This is covered in the unofficial SuSE FAQ:
I found i had to compile the wireless tools and pcmcia-cs stuff from source - though i've used only suse 7.2 and a homegrown 2.2.20 kernel ...
