I am having trouble with Samba 2.0.7 (on a suse 7.0 box). Everything worked fine, but it looks like I cannot change passwords. I have tried both swat and smbpasswd, but when I try to connect to the share using the new password it always returns "wrong user - password pair". The same if I try to use the old one. I am using encrypted passwords. Anyone has any idea to fix it? Tazio

What options do you have under the [global] section? are you using the 'unix password sync' and 'passwd program' lines at all?
tc> Tazio
I do not use unix password sync, and I have left all "passwd" stuff at default values. However I have sync-ed passwords by hand. I do not think the problem could be that linux login passwords are different from smb passwords. I changed system passwords before smbpasswords, and everything were still fine. The problem happened when I changed smbpasswords. Btw I will check this again. Tazio
