[opensuse] Cannot shutdown PC with WOL activated
Hi I am running openSUSE 13.2 on an Intel NUC with WOL activated. The shutdown command only reboots the PC, I need to physically press the power off button in order to get the desired behaviour. Same happens if I use ’shutdown -h now’ from command line. WOL works as expected. Is there a way to get normal shutdown behaviour without deactivating WOL ? thanks Bogdan-- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

See comment #15: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=843906#c15 I did not try to setup magic packet, but you should be able to set it with "ethtool -s eth0 wol g" or somewhere in bios?

Since laptop-mode-tools do not only disable WOL, you could try this one, too: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=848889#c19 Use lspci to get the path of the Ethernet Controller power control file. However, it's just a wild guess: updating to 13.2 fixed this problem here. When shutting down from a root cli I use shutdown -h -P now When I RTFM I see that it says that "-P poweroff" is the default but I've never found that to be the case. I've always needed the explicit "-P" to poweroff. -- /"\ \ / ASCII Ribbon Campaign X Against HTML Mail / \ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I bugzilla'd this behaviour eighteen months ago, running oS 12.3 on a (then) new Core i7 machine, Intel DM87MC motherboard. Despite extensive experimentation recorded at: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=812592#c15 from Comment 15 onward, the problem has persisted through upgrades to oS 13.1 and now 13.2. I've just lived with being unable to activate WOL on this machine. -- Robin K Wellington "Harbour City" New Zealand -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
