I have a TNT and it works great. So I'd buy a TNT2 or a 3dfx.

Definitevly a Sound Blaster Live. It already works under Linux and the driver is getting better.
Modem: Genius modem 56k fax/data/voice internal 81-992884-00 3Com USRobotics V.90 Internal PCI data/voice/fax 56k int. DIAMOND SUPRAMAX PCI W/VOICE External ?
Any external no-winmodem.
Printer: C5894A DeskJet 710C Canon BJC-3000
Well, I have about 3 years without printer, so I can't tell about this point. Omar -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/

Video: Trident 3D Blade 8MB AGP Savage 4 GT 395 16MB AGP or?? Stay away from Trident and S3, they are just not very good or at least have not been so in the past. I would go with 1 of 3 chipset cards.
1. nVidia ( TNT2 or newer) 2. 3DFX ( such as a Voodoo ) 3. ATI Rage cards

Soundblaster is usually a safe bet...AWE64 or SB128 should give you excellent sound.
Modem: Genius modem 56k fax/data/voice internal 81-992884-00 3Com USRobotics V.90 Internal PCI data/voice/fax 56k int. DIAMOND SUPRAMAX PCI W/VOICE External ? or??
I would go with an external modem, but if you go with an internal modem you basically just have to make sure it's not a WinModem. I have a External 56k 3COM Sportster and it preforms perfectly.
Printer: C5894A DeskJet 710C Canon BJC-3000 or?? Can't help you here..mainly because I am thinking of getting a printer, but have not done much research on the subject yet.

One thing to consider regarding printers. Watch out (and stay clear) of the "Windoze" printers. The HP710 is most likely such a beast. The problem with these is that you need drivers/programs in your computer that takes care of everything that a descent printer can do all by itself. And guess what? These drivers are only available for W9x/NT, so they cannot be used under Linux (or anything else for that matter). Hewlett Packard is nameing this the "Printer Performance Architecture" (sp?). HA! I bought a HP720C that proved itself being such a thing. It did not perform at all, other than under Windoze. :-( Some lessons are learned the hard way that's for sure. As I am looking for a new color printer, I might as well ask. Does anyone know if there exist such a thing as a postscript capable inkjet printer? /Tryggve -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
