Thanks for ths suggestion, but looks like it is not the case. I checked with YaST/Security and users/Local security, and there the max password age is set to 99999, and days before password expires warning is set to 7. But I started to receive the message, when 3 days were left. So, looks like it is not affected by the setting for local account policies. I hate to say this but the simple option is probably to change the password, and see if the condition clears... If this is a NT4.x style domain, stuff gets distributed and cached around the network, and occasionally these are damn odd locations. If one of these locations has corrupt info then it can be very difficult to track this down and correct it. (Inconsistencies are supposed to go away after a bit if the domain servers notice a problem, but single server setups tend to be a bit vulnerable). If it is a multi-server Windows domain setup, all the domain servers will probably need to be checked to see if one has a problem. If you have multiple trusted domains as well life can get truly interesting... Yes. In that case you probably have a password expiry policy on your domain controller. That is nothing you can influence from your workstation. So you can only try to change the password and hope that expiry will be reset. IIRC the password expiry period is 42 days in a default installation.
