you can't. the online update is the updating of packages within a version release. what you want to do is the updating from one release to a newer release which requires you to reinstall with a new cd set, update with a new cd set or reinstall over ftp. mk

I know from a new 7.3 install, there are som update. But when I try to update the new updated linux, I get 7.0 updates from suse ftp. Sorry for interrupting in this chistmas day. I found it with you help thanks Advertisment ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---- Problems With YOU After Updating to 7.3 Deutsch Email address: Support knowledgebase (swiegra_update.inf) Applies to SuSE Linux: Version 7.3 Symptom Subequent to an update to SuSE Linux 7.3, the YaST Online Update (YOU) Modul in Yast2 still refers to the FTP update directory of the previously installed version. Cause The cause is an unmodified entry in the file /var/lib/YaST/update.inf Solution Open the file /var/lib/YaST/update.inf with your favorite editor, e.g.: mcedit /var/lib/YaST/update.inf Search in the file for the lines Basesystem: SuSE-Linux-full-i386-7.2.0#0 Distribution_Version:7.2.0and change them to Basesystem: SuSE-Linux-full-i386-7.3.0#0 Distribution_Version:7.3.0If you update from a version other than 7.2, you will obviously see the respective version number under Basesystem and Distribution_Version.
