I've followed the instructions and got the latest nVidia drivers up and running. Things are working fine in2D and 3D... with one minor issue... screen resolution. When I was using the generic drivers from SuSE I could bump the resolution up to 1600x1200 and was running it there up until today when I finally got around to futzing around to install the official nVidia drivers. Now, I can't push the resolution beyond 1200x1024. Using SAX2, I can remove all resolutions except 1600x1200, but I still only get 1280x1024. If I look into my XF86Config file, the Modelines are there to define 1600x1200, and so is what appears to be the correct Subsection Display of Screen. (I'm attempting to use 16bit at 1600x1200 - the DefaultDepth 16 line should be setting this, right?) Oddly, in SAX2, when I set the resolutions there, it allows me to select only 1600x1200 at 16 bit but when it goes into test mode it will only display 1280x1024. So... anyone have any idea what i'm doing wrong here? I know the HW can handle the higher resolution (GeForce2Ti and an iyyama Vision Maseter Pro 451 19" monitor). A snip from my XF86Config file (if it helps) -------------------------------------------------- Section "Screen" DefaultDepth 16 SubSection "Display" Depth 15 Modes "1280x1024" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1600x1200" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1600x1200" "1600x1024" "1600x1000" "1400x1050" "1280x1024" "1280x960" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 32 Modes "1280x1024" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "1280x1024" EndSubSection Device "Device[0]" Identifier "Screen[0]" Monitor "Monitor[0]" EndSection ------------------------------------------------------------

Have a look at the server error log. If you start X using the comandline (startx), then it will be in "$HOME/.X.err". If you are using the graphical login (ie, runlevel 5), then it will be in "/var/log/XFree86.0.log". You will probably see there a line saying why it desn't use certain mode that aparently it should use. But it could be simply that the nvidia driver doesn't support that resolution, and the nv does. -- Cheers, Carlos Robinson
