Hi all! 9.0 up and running, with glitches of course...:-) Compiling from source the grip-3.0.7 package stopped at: checking for ghttp_request_new in -lghttp... no configure: error: libhttp is required Not a very informative message IMO, anyone who knows what package libhttp belongs to? Anyways, locate gives me: /opt/gnome/lib/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/libhttp.so /usr/lib/apache/libhttpd.ep /usr/lib/apache/libhttpd.so /usr/lib/libhttpd.so So the b****y thing ought to be in place or what? Anyone who can explain why this happens and if there is a solution? Why I'm installing it grip from source? The SuSE version 3.0.5 is buggy and crashes all the time, it's simply not useable at all. /usr/lib/libhttpd.so
Perhaps it is looking for libhttpd.h or c? I would run rpm -qf /usr/lib/libhhtpd, then install the -devel of that package. Install libghttp-devel -- James Ogley, Webmaster, Rubber Turnip james@rubberturnip.org.uk http://www.rubberturnip.org.uk Jabber: riggwelter@myjabber.net Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 9.0) GNOME updates for SuSE: http://www.usr-local-bin.org

Try looking at the configure script, and see where it is trying to locate the library. It's stored under /opt/gnome in SuSE, but the scipt is probably looking for it somwhere else. Also, make sure the name is correct, it appeared to be trying to compile against "libhttp", while the library is named "libghttp" in SuSE. But you should be able to modify all of these things, through the configure script. If there isn't one, then the makefile, add '-L /opt/gnome/lib' and change '-lhttp' to '-lghttp' and that should do the trick. hth

it's looking for 'ghttp' and seeking through yast reveals that 'ghttp' package exists. There is also a 'ghttp-devel' package, which you need to compile packages, that rever to it.
/usr/lib/libhttpd.so
