[opensuse] Switching from ifup to NetworkManager
My laptop running oS v11.1 with KDE3 is connected to my network; the setup is ifup. It operates properly. I would like to use NetworkManager instead. When I change the setting in Network Services, it is no longer possible to access the network at all. I do not see a NetworkManager icon in the panel. What have I omitted? The installed packages relevant to NetworkManager are as follows: NetworkManager NetworkManager-glib NetworkManager-gnome NetworkManager-kde NetworkManager-kde4 NetworkManager-lang -- Stan Goodman Qiryat Tiv'on Israel -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Once the networking mode is changed, you do have to actually start one of the NetworkManager applets to do anything useful. So for example in NetworkManager-kde3 I believe the binary was called knetworkmanager. Regards, Tejas
