Hi all: I'm sorry,I didn't used SL-9.3 and now with oS-10-RC1 is the first time I see anything about preload theme when I boot the PC or halt it I see these files on my /etc/preload.d: boot cups Firefox Gimp kde kdm kdm.auto Khelpcenter later Mozilla and OpenOffice I not use kdm,Mozilla, nor either the Firefox from oS-10_RC1... Could I delete them? Perhaps for the boot it helps to that it goes faster, but at the time of reboot or doing halt, takes more time than without that preload... :-( Thanks -- Chema Ollés Usuario Linux: #198057 Linux 2.6.13-20050922165520-default #1 Thu Sep 22 16:55:20 UTC 2005 i686

General rule: If it is not installed, nothing gets preloaded and no time is wasted. If you want to remove preloading for an existing application, remove the corresponding files in /etc/preload.d and /var/cache/preload. More details are available at [1] and [2]
but at the time of reboot or doing halt, takes more time than without that preload... :-(
Yes, it sometimes takes a while to update all these files. For 10.1 preloading will be even better than it is now. I'll have a look at that once I have 10.0 installed. Maybe Suse is working on that as well. Cheers nordi [1] http://www.opensuse.org/SUPER_preloading [2] http://www.opensuse.org/SUPER_preloading_internals

Off course you can delete them. You can make SuSE as you wish that it is, for your situation. Just use Yast and go to install and delete sotware. If you want to delete thats not right for the functioning of SuSE you will get a warning (most of the time). But deleting Mozlla, Firefox is no problem. Ben
