Hi list, I'll apologise in advance if this has already been answered. I did check the archives first, but it does touch on issues raised recently. I want to install KDE 3.1.5 on my 8.2 pro box. Following lots of discussions from this list, I installed apt last night, ran a few apt-get -s install <package> runs to check the sources.list file and to "get the feel" of apt, then installed synaptic via apt - very cool. Now to my query, when I run apt-get -s install kdebase 3, I get the following output (last few lines only): <--------snip snap----------> Conf qt3-devel-tools (3.2.3-1 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf arts (1.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf arts-devel (1.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf kdelibs3 broken Obsoletes:kdelibs3-cups [] Conf kdelibs3-devel (3.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf kdebase3 (3.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf kdebase3-devel (3.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] E: Conf Broken kdelibs3 <--------snip snap----------> Being new to apt, I assume the last line indicates that the install would "break"? if I chose to run without the -s option. Is this correct? How do I solve it (further background, needed to try to compile k3b 0.11.1 from source.........seems topical at the moment). -- Regards, Roland Hill Registered Linux User #330226 http://pl.net/~rnrhill/rhweb.htm @ http://counter.li.org
Hi list,
I'll apologise in advance if this has already been answered. I did check the archives first, but it does touch on issues raised recently.
Now to my query, when I run apt-get -s install kdebase 3, I get the following output (last few lines only):
<--------snip snap---------->
Conf qt3-devel-tools (3.2.3-1 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf arts (1.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf arts-devel (1.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf kdelibs3 broken Obsoletes:kdelibs3-cups [] Conf kdelibs3-devel (3.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf kdebase3 (3.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] Conf kdebase3-devel (3.1.5-0 SuSE:8.2/stable) [] E: Conf Broken kdelibs3
<--------snip snap---------->
Being new to apt, I assume the last line indicates that the install would "break"? if I chose to run without the -s option.
Is this correct? How do I solve it (further background, needed to try to compile k3b 0.11.1 from source.........seems topical at the moment).
It's ignorable. It is confusing indeed, but it seems that it is not possible to prevent this. BTW: k3b-0.11.1 is available from the apt repository (delivered by packman). -- Richard
