I was originally thinking that I needed to copy all the CDs into one location so that after the install is done I can point Yast to this location as well. I think I've got it figured out now, though. -----Original Message----- From: Per Jessen [mailto:per@computer.org] Sent: Tuesday, March 07, 2006 2:15 PM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: Re: [SLE] local repository Drew Burchett wrote:
I'm sure that I've looked right over the directions for this, but could someone please tell me how to take my five install CDs and create a local repository?
What I do for a network install is burn CD1, then mount the ISOs of CD1-5 on loopback such that I have the following: /suse/suse-10.1/CD1 /suse/suse-10.1/CD2 /suse/suse-10.1/CD3 /suse/suse-10.1/CD4 /suse/suse-10.1/CD5 I then boot from CD1, and specify /suse/suse-10.1/CD1 as source. Is that what you're after or were you hoping to copy the CDs into one big directory? /Per Jessen, Zürich -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com -- CONFIDENTIALITY NOTICE: This e-mail message, including any attachments, is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential and privileged information. Have you tried using yast => miscellaneous => Installation Server ? quite neat! The change your installation sources to the directory you setup, and disable the cd-rom sources. Chadley

No, I haven't tried that method - although I think I did notice it. But I can help wondering, what does it really buy me? /Per Jessen, Zürich

It knows how to copy the 5 CDs into a single directory (the original question). It will even make them available from http/tftp/nfs/samba. -- Roger Oberholtzer OPQ Systems AB Ramböll Sverige AB Kapellgränd 7 P.O. Box 4205 SE-102 65 Stockholm, Sweden Tel: Int +46 8-615 60 20 Fax: Int +46 8-31 42 23
