I am running OpenOffice1.0 (same code-base than SO6) on SuSE 7.3. I am very happy!

Thanks, Nick
Yes I am happy with it, only things that are kinda screwy: 1. The KDE menu link did not show up. 2. typing soffice at terminal luanches Soffice 5.2, I need to re-link. So far Word documents render especially well. No real issues with Excel documents either, but must test more on this. So far I am very happy with it. Also installed on a Windows XP box (my wifes), and really only see a performance different that favors Linux, however my hardware is slightly faster too. Very happy so far...I might even put up a review of it. Matt

I had the same problem. My issue was that I was using the SuSE KDE menu vs. the standard KDE menu. You can either switch between these (in Control Center->Menu Settings or use the menu editor to move those icons to the SuSE KDE menu. Hope that helps. - Greg

I think this is because you are using the SuSE KDE menu and it put the link in the default KDE menu. You can switch to the KDE menu using the Control Center, but then you lose the updates done by YaST2 when you add programs that way. You can, of course, add SO to the SuSE KDE menu using the menu editor. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net
Like the other person, I installed Open Office 1.0. There was only a minor problem, and that was that I had the SuSE menu as the default. It's menu was installed in the KDE menu. The only other issue I had was that I saved my class presentation as power point slides, and the slides came out blank. (All the text showed up as the outline). I haven't had time to figure out if it is simply a font issue that I can easily deal with or a filtering issue that may require a patch. Since I still have SO 5.2 installed, I create the slides on OO, save them then use SO 5.2 to create the html and ppt until I correct this problem. On 5 Jun 2002 at 21:28, Nick Selby wrote:

Very happy :-) It works better than SO 6.0b and SO 5.0, all the fonts work well. I didn't get Adabas installed - I'm not quite sure why - but I probably won't use it. The licence is liberal. You can install it up to 5 copies on computers you use on Linux, Solaris and an obscure OS called Windows and expect compatibility. I have all three. :-) JDL -- Non enim propter gloriam, diuicias aut honores pugnamus set propter libertatem solummodo quam Nemo bonus nisi simul cum vita amittit.
