Yes, and there is even a OpenSUSE package for Hylafax. I've never tried it from the package in OpenSUSE but I have run on a CentOS box and it works very very well. -- John Lange www.johnlange.ca -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

And there is even Hylafax tutorial in Indonesian :-) Based on my experience, it would be not as easy just like WinFax setup but please keep in mind that it is not as difficult just like another complicated software. Setting up wireless LAN with unknown chipset in OpenSUSE seems to be more difficult :-) I've a simple installation tutorial about hylafax. It was written on Indonesian version, http://www.vavai.com/index.php?/archives/56-Fax-Melalui-Komputer-Menggunakan-HylaFax-OpenSuSE-10.2.html&serendipity[entrypage]=all You can reached another installation how to from hylafax handbook : http://www.hylafax.org/content/Handbook -- Best Regards, Masim "Vavai" Sugianto /************************************************************/ Blog (ID) : http://www.vavai.com/blog/index.php Blog (EN) : http://www.vavai.net Community : http://www.opensuse.or.id /************************************************************/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No You definitely don't want WinFAX. It has a major bug that causes itself to self-destruct in Win-XP, and Symantec isn't interested in fixing it. The solution is to uninstall and re-install the software, which is ridiculous. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

As Carlos said, Hylafax. I use it on a daily basis and it also has adaptive answer, so it will work both as a fax and as a dial-in server to provide complete access to your box via a phone line and it also provides a full dial-up internet connection via ppp. Very useful. The suse rpms work great. Just take the time to configure the fax server and make sure /etc/inittab is configured properly. Inittab will have: # fax getty (hylafax) mo:35:respawn:/usr/lib/fax/faxgetty /dev/modem then just make sure you have the correct link /dev/ttyS1->/dev/modem for example. The two configuration scripts that come with hylafax (faxaddmodem) does a good job. For dial-in server use, you will also need to configure /etc/ppp. -- David C.
