This is just a general question that stems from not knowing, but... I sort of got used to using packed filter on OpenBSD for setting up firewalls, routers & co. How difficult, doable/undoable would it be to implement PF in Linux, and in some distant future hope for a fine yast module in SuSE?

Yes, that would be sweet indeed, pf is way easier to organise than iptables. But I've never heard that anyone's trying to port pf to Linux - given the author's dedication to BSD and to the bsd licensing model I'm not sure you'll persuade anyone to do it. It's probably non-trivial, I would guess, but I am talking through my hat. Hope it does get done, though.
