[opensuse] Keyboard issue, terminology special characters
I am needing some of those special characters not on the keyboad by default. I need the degree one the most often. I figured it's in keyboard layout (Suse 10.0 here), but am not finding both the map, and how to activate it. I need to be able to type degrees and other characters online and in things like the word processor, etc, so I am sure there is a way to do it, I am just falling down, due to a lack of the correct search terms. Can someone give me a point in the correct direction? Annoyed that I canŽt figure this out Randal Thanks -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Which Desktop system are you using, and which word processor? Since this isn't Windows there are several possibilities. If KDE: K button (start) Configure desktop (Personal settings) Regional and Accessibility Keyboard layout Xkb tab Check Enable Xkb options scroll down in the Options list to "Compose Key Position" Check a key you don't use for anything else like maybe the right window key. Click Apply. With that setting, you can hold down right window key and press oo and when you let up the compose key you get ° Same for other key combos: hold compose, press two other keys 12 = ½ 14= ¼ ae = æ c / = ¢ ss = ß Etc.
