Hello: Why does SuSE7.0 insist on this format for resolv.conf file? search localhost myisp.net myisp.net nameserver 207.100.10.207 nameserver 207.100.10.208 [I altered the names and numbers, if that's ok] seems like it should be: search localhost nameserver 127.0.0.1 search myisp.net nameserver 207.100.10.207 nameserver 207.100.10.207 Maybe I need to see where this format is specified? Yep, you're right, I am still really far down on the learning curve, here. Thanks, Tom
You just need it like this:
search

Look in /etc/rc.config. My guess is that you'll find a line like: SERACHLIST="localhost myisp.net myisp.net" Edit the file and run /sbin/SuSEconfig, or change the file via YaST (menu System Administartion -> Change configuration file). SuSEconfig will be launched automatically once you quit YaST.

seems like it should be: search localhost nameserver 127.0.0.1 search myisp.net nameserver 207.100.10.207 nameserver 207.100.10.207
Maybe I need to see where this format is specified?
man resolv.conf

At least you're willing to learn. ;-) Paul.
