Hi. I have just installed SuSE 10.0 in a box. As always I want to use the Weather. I cannot get it to work. I have tried to manually choose a weatherstation in the Display window, but there's no weatherstations available there.
From the Weater Service I can choose Denmark and Alborg wich is the one I want to monitor. But it will not work at all, and ye the internetconnection is fine ok.
What could be the reason ?

Erik I had the same problem. Would not run in panel or kontact. Both are working now. Panel applet I edited the "weather_panelappletrc" file. manually entered the 4 letter station code in "report_location=" After that i removed the applet from the panel and then reinstalled it. Works fine. kweather itself does not appear to hit any config files. Kontact app settings/configure summaryview ..I unchecked weather ..apply settings/configure kontact/summary components ..I unchecked weather ..apply closed kontact reopend kontact re-checked weather in both config files, applied them. closed kontact (don't really know if this is needed) reopened kontact it works Sorry, this is not very efficient or professional but at least it works now for me. Looks like we lost the "offline" option. Tom

right clicking the panel applet and selecting the update there only works after doing it in the config/weatherservice/update all has been done. I'll never win any medals for knowing how to do things the easy way. Tom

Where do you get a list of those 4 letter station codes?

The codes are based on airport designations. (where most of the weather stations reside) You can search your state for airports and codes by going to: http://www.myairplane.com/databases/approach/index.php and doing the state search.

and your local Weather Bureau's website has a link to the weather stations and show there the local code. In the case of Australia, you can even use a map and drill down to a zone, showing your estimated readings, with real readings for the closest stations. these weather guru's are getting smart, it's unfortunate that the weather itself isn't. scsijon

John Try this link for an airport code. I live 3 miles away so it's good for me. There may be other lists if your not near an airport. http://www.airport-technology.com/icao-codes.html Tom
