nVidia NIC and SuSe 8.0 PLEASE HELP
Just did a fresh (re)install of SuSe 8.0 on my micron pc. Yast2 tells me the NIC card (nvidia MCP network adaptor) is configured, but when it is done and the system is booted I see system messages at startup saying: Starting network adaptor (or something) lo done eth0 failed Two questions, what is this "lo" stuff and where is it coming from? Has anyone got this NIC to work under 8.0 ? The NIC is fine and works under win XP. Thanks, Babu __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? The lo is for the loopback adapter so the machine can talk to itself over the network.

Sorry, never heard of an nvidia network adapter. Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net

I tried checking the hardware and it seems this is all
new integrated peripherals from nVidia. It is part
of the nForce 420 chip set which has an MCP (media
and Communications Processor) South Bridge.
As I say, Yast2 says it is configured and I see
absolutely no errors or warnings, but after booting,
the NIC startup always fails.
Is there any way to figure out what the problem is?
thanks,
Babu
