Hi Thank you for the answer. The best help I have got so far is type *sux* then password, and after that yast 2. Then I obviously connect to thr Xserver. But Yst2 is not in any meny since I uppgraded from KDE2 to KDE3. ( By the way I use SuSe 7.3). And I would have lliked to get it function the same way as in KDE2. There also is a problem with the controlcenter in KDE3. Even if type in root password when needed, some changes don't get saved. Ulf At 08:28 AM 4/28/02, you wrote:
Hi When I try to start Yast 2 in KDE3 I get this:
" Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server Xlib: Invalid XDM-AUTHORIZATION-1 key (failed key comparison) y2controlcenter: cannot connect to X server :0.0"
This came when I tried from Superusermodus Terminal. I dont manage to start Yast 2 in any way.
Could somebody explain what the message abov mean, and how can I fix it?
Hello, As others have previously said, "root" is a different user than "you" are. (whoever you're logged in as) This means "root" can't work in the X session you're running. There are work-arounds for this problem, and thus far I have yet to see any. Here's one to try: Open terminal normally as your regular user. Type "xhost +localhost" (this command means that anyone on "localhost" can connect to the X server) Now, type "su" and enter your root password, then type "yast" BTW, you should be able to start yast through a menu option. If you really want to manually start it, track down the menu link and view it's command line! Hope this helps!
