Hi, everybody! :) I was talking to a friend about my cable modem the other day, and the subject of fast dialup connections came up. In the US, it's common knowledge that 53k/sec is the fastest connection allowed over a common POTS line, but Windows98 includes an implementation of the Multi-Link Point-to-Point Protocol, as do some third-party software packages. While you are still limited by seemingly random line anomalies, this would theoretically allow two bonded modems to move data at a rate of 106 compressed k per second over common analog lines. Diamond even sold a line of modems known as the Shotgun series, and some of them had two modems on one card. So my friend says to me, "Can you do that with Linux?" I couldn't answer him, so I'm asking y'all... -- -=|JP|=- Jon Pennington | Atipa Linux Solutions -o) jpennington@atipa.com | http://www.atipa.com /\\ Kansas City, MO, USA | 816-241-2641 _\_V -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
