I have a laptop that had Windows XP on and installed Linux 10 trying to convert a neighbor. The install went very well and everything worked fine. My neighbor then decided she found Linux more difficult than Windows and wanted to change it back, which I did. Now she wants to make the laptop dual boot so she can learn Linux while still being able to use Windows. When I try to install Linux 10 now it gives an error 'No Hard Disks Found' even though the current drive has Windows XP installed and works fine. The laptop is an AOpen with a 40GB HDD set with one partition. Can anyone tell why Linux doesn't see the drive when booting from CD1 Have tried normal and safe install but still have same problem. TIA. Alan

Hello, Just for clarification, is the laptop hardware exactly the same as it was when you were able to install Linux before? Also, if you want to leave Windows on there, it might not hurt to repartition the drive with a utility like Partition Magic and make room for Linux before you try to install it. - Dave
