problems in comp xine or xine rpm ???
Hi, is there any place I can get rpm version of xine, and all other modules needed to watch DVD? I tried to compile it, but after compliling and installing xine-lib-0.9.9 I tried to install: xine-ui-0.9.9 and got following massage: checking for XINE-LIB version >= 0.9.9... no *** Could not run XINE test program, checking why... *** The test program compiled, but did not run. This usually means *** that the run-time linker is not finding XINE or finding the wrong *** version of XINE. If it is not finding XINE, you'll need to set your *** LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable, or edit /etc/ld.so.conf to point *** to the installed location Also, make sure you have run ldconfig if that *** is required on your system *** *** If you have an old version installed, it is best to remove it, although *** you may also be able to get things to work by modifying LD_LIBRARY_PATH *** How do I go about fixing this? Thank you for your help, Wojtek

You may give ogle a try (http://www.dtek.chalmers.se/groups/dvd/suse.shtml) It worked for me on 7.3 and works on 8.0 -Kastus

Yes, at http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/~jcm/skyblade/

Did you do ldconfig after you did "make install" on the xine-libs? Did you remember to exit from root before you started compiling xine-ui? regards Anders -- I swear I do declare - how did you get that there?

Did you do ldconfig after you did "make install" on the xine-libs? No. after make install I could not find it.
Did you remember to exit from root before you started compiling xine-ui? No. I did not. But why would I wanted to? I don't understand?

No. after make install I could not find it.
After you did "make install" on xine-libs you should have done ldconfig. This updates the linker cache so other programs can find the libraries you've just installed. If you didn't pass any special flags to the configure script, xine will install in /usr/local, so the libs are in /usr/local/lib

Most people run configure and make as a regular user, then "su" to root to do "make install". If you do that, root won't have anything (almost) in the path. If you go on to do configure on xine-ui without first exiting from the su it will fail. But in this case I think the problem is that you didn't do the ldconfig. If you'd done that, I suspect the configure script for xine-ui would have found the libs. //Anders -- I swear I do declare - how did you get that there?
