I've just upgraded to SuSE 7.1 from 7.0 and XV no longer works properly. I've looked though the archives and can't find any fixes/patches for this. What happens is that if I'm using xv to view a directory of images, the image window is not cleared but instead, if an image is smaller than the previous one, it overwrites part of the prvious image giving a strange combination of the two. xv worked fine in 7.0 but I'm not sure if this is a problem with SuSE or KDE. Any ideas, fixes, patches? Thanks, Adrian Adrian Burd, Dpt. Oceanography, Texas A&M University http://www-ocean.tamu.edu/~ecomodel

In KDE, don't place the xv window in the corner. If you (let it) do that switching to a new image doesn't replace the part of the display where the old one was displayed, so the old one is still there. This is a bug in xv I was told.

Try de-installing xv, and then reinstalling it. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogic, with just a little bit more effort." -- A. P. J.

I tried that - it was the first thing I thought of. I've just downloaded the xv sources and will try compiling it from scratch tonight. I've just heard from someone else who suspects it might be a problem with the latest KDE, so I'll also try using Gnome and see if that makes a difference.

I could be a config file that the new version doesn't like that's lingering in the system..like in your ~/ -- Ben Rosenberg mailto:ben@whack.org ----- If two men agree on everything, you can be sure that only one of them is doing the thinking.
