[opensuse] Can't get cups to start at boot time
Some time ago, 2 of my boxes, running 11.0 stopped to start cups when booted. I have to start it manually (rccups start) and everything go well. Looking at yast the service is desactivated. Using insserv -d .... I goe the following message: 'insserv: script cups: service cupsd already provided!' I also tried to do a soft link into rc3.d and rc5.d, but they got wiped out at the boot. Expecting somebody have a clue! In advance, thanks. Andre. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Same as insserr as chkconfig invoke insserv Below the output of: hull:/home/andre # chkconfig cups on insserv: script cups: service cupsd already provided! insserv: exiting now! /sbin/insserv failed, exit code 1 hull:/home/andre # Andre. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Try remove and reinsert: chkconfig cups off chkconfig cups on chkconfig cups Have you added services out of the ones provided by suse, modified something? Try: grep -r -l -i "Provides.*cupsd" /etc/init.d/* - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Have you tried the runlevel editor in YaST? It shows which service is started for which runlevel. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
