I wonder whether the volume of traffic on this list might become more focussed, and the technical content improved if the list were to be moderated ? The current level of posts is too high, and made worse by "rants". Another rival list, not dedicated just to SuSE but to all varieties of LINUX has a much higher "signal to noise ratio". I may have to transfer to the German language list (I can read German) in order to reduce the number of information-free posts. 73 -- Geoff Bagley

This idea pops up every now and then, and it goes away until next mega-burst of rants. Unless there's something major happening, this list pretty tame for the most part. This list would be severely impacted if it was moderated because of the traffic volume. I believe the list has an average of 3,000 emails per month. A while back, I think the list hit 6,000 emails in one month. As long as you are not in the habit of reading every single email from this list, and use filtering in your email program to separate the list email into a different folder, you shouldn't have a problem with this list. Have you tried using a filter to remove everything with the [OT] subject tag? That's why the tag was made in the first place.

Actually the number of posts has declined in the last year. I remember when you could count on 300 to 500 posts a day. Unfortunately, the tone of the lists has also changed. Much more noise, and less worthwhile content. Victor Cardona
