[opensuse] A web front-end to SSH Server - possible ?
Hi Susers! I am looking for good server software on a side. A have a HTTP client, and I would like to access an SSH server with it. I cannot touch the client (no permissions), plus the client is behind layer-7 firewall, which allows HTTP only, but I have full access to SSH Server (running Linux). One way to achieve my goal is to use some kind of proxy system. The easiest way I think about is to use some kind of Web Front End to SSH Server. Is there something like this in existence ? -- -Alexey Eremenko "Technologov" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
I found this: http://proxytunnel.sourceforge.net/intro.php But it seems far from what I need, because it requires SSH client setup (and I cannot touch the client). -- -Alexey Eremenko "Technologov" -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

I have seen a telnet session from inside a web page, using java or javascript. I don't know if the telnet connected from the server or from the client. Dunno about ssh. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Hi Alexey, I doubt there is such a think. The whole idea of the ssh client/server is, that the traffic between the client and the server is encrypted all the way. If you add whatever proxy, etc., at least the traffic between the client and that middle-man will be open, which not what ssh stands for. Now, there is this program: http://www.gnu.org/software/httptunnel/httptunnel.html, but as far as I know, you can not install ssh client on the machine, so you wouldn't be able to use it. -- Svetoslav Milenov (Sunny) Even the most advanced equipment in the hands of the ignorant is just a pile of scrap. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Webmin allows you to run single commands from a browser, there is also an ssh client on it, but I think the client is java based and requires you to be able to connect to the server on the ssh port, which doesn't sound like it would satisfy your requirements. If you could modify the client side, I use corkscrew and connect.c and both work well through an http proxy (as long as the proxy allows the connect command). Try http://sourceforge.net/projects/sslexplorer/ for sslexplorer - if not, google for a download site. While finding the download site maybe hard, the tool itself works great - I am using it with much satisfaction in many places. -- --Moby They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -- Benjamin Franklin First they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew.
