I just discovered it only works with X.509 configurations and I use static.

I had no chance yet to try OpenVPN with KNetworkManager. If you can figure out what's going wrong I'm glad to fix it :)

Maybe you can find some hints in /var/log/NetworManager?

Did you already try nm-applet? Maybe KNM behaves incorrect.
