[SLE] Toshiba Portable/PCMCIA
Hi, Is there anyone out there with any experience of installing SuSE 6.40 on a Toshiba Satellite Pro 4200 Series portable. I can't seem to get the networking, which is a 3CCFE574BT PCMCIA card running. The pcmcia how-to indicates that Toshiba portables are not recommended, but I didn't have any choice of machine :( The boot stuff indicates a variety of pcmcia things failing, starting with init-module for the i82365 which fails with the message device or resource busy. I'd be grateful for any help anyone could give. My Linux is rusty/out of date, since I haven't been able to use it for my development work since the days when Slackware was the leading distribution! Alan, I have the Toshiba 2105CDS, about 3 months old. PCMCIA worked with SuSE 6.3, but not SuSE 6.4 or SuSE 7.0 using a Linksys 10/100 pcmcia card. However, I prefer to use the lastest software when possible. I gave up for the time being trying to get it to work. If you get it to work, please post what you did. You may also try sourceforge.net. David Hinds, the maintainer of the pcmcia package, has a web site there. John Alan Lenton wrote:

There are new pcmcia packages at SuSE that resolves this problem. This is documented on the SuSE 6.4 support webpage http://www.suse.com/en/support/download/updates/64_update.html where also a installation instruction is found. The packages can be found at ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/a1/pcmcia.rpm ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/a1/pcmcia_m.rpm /Regards Per Björlo ---------------------------------------------------------- Get your free POP3 e-mail from http://www.HotPOP3.com/ Please report spam to antispam@HotPOP3.com ---------------------------------------------------------- Great China Click eXchange - Build Network Finance for You And get up to 20% commission from your 5-tier referrals http://www.gccx.com/public/index.php3?referrer=hotpop3 -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
