[opensuse] Firefox 2.0.0.4 on openSuSE 10.2
i just manually installed Firefox 2.0.0.4 from source. It works fine except but not "plug ins enabled" . For example I hv installed Adobe Flash Player, restart my firefox and it doesn't work. The same thing happen to java plug ins. Any idea what file should i edit ti make it work? And... bad thing : the MeasureIt and ColorZilla doesn't support Firefox 2.0.4 yet, am i right? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

openSUSE is an rpm-based system. Your best bet would be to install the rpm built for your version of openSUSE and your plugins will work :^) MozillaFirefox-2.0.0.4-8.3 http://software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/

Hello Hans, Installing from source is fine, as long as we can bear the hassle of configuring it correctly. For flash and java plugin, you must tell firefox where it can find it, in default rpm installation it's on /usr/lib/browser-plugins/libflashplayer.so (for flash). The reason why installing manually from source is tend to be "not working" out of the box, because by default most of the time the path will be assumed to /usr/local. So you must make the adjustment there. -- Fajar Priyanto | Reg'd Linux User #327841 | Linux tutorial http://linux2.arinet.org 9:50am up 2:41, 2.6.18.2-34-default GNU/Linux Let's use OpenOffice. http://www.openoffice.org

By installed from source, I assume you mean you've downloaded the binaries from mozilla.org rather than actually compiled from source? Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.4 is available from the openSUSE software repository as an RPM - you'd probably be better off installing this version rather than the tarballed binaries from mozilla.org. http://software.opensuse.org/download/mozilla/openSUSE_10.2/ If you want to keep your mozilla.org version, you'll need to add the plugns you want into the plugins directory of the extracted location. The Flash player plugin will automatically install to the SUSE RPM version of Firefox rather than your extracted location.

Presumably these are extensions/add-ons to Firefox? It's quite possible that they've not been updated to 2.0.0.4 of Firefox yet - that's something for the author(s) to sort out I'm afraid.
