Hi all, in my 9.0 I had kaffeine working nicely with the recommended "upgrade" from xine.org, handrolled. I upgraded to 9.1 and it is still working with DVD's but...no sound. So I recompiled, installed...still the same scene. What, o mighty sound gurus, could be the problem ? Other CD Players work... Did you compile the arts output plugin for xine?

Well, if you didn't have arts-devel installed when you configured, or if for some other reason the arts output plugin wasn't compiled, then kaffeine won't give you sound. As far as I know, it requires arts output

Have a look at alsamixer, to see what the volume is. Alsa has a tendency of starting with volume 0 which have caused many a longish sound debugging session. -- Mads Martin Joergensen, http://mmj.dk "Why make things difficult, when it is possible to make them cryptic and totally illogical, with just a little bit more effort?" -- A. Try opening your sound manager (kamix, or kmixer) in advanced mode and make sure all the correct in/outputs are checked. That craziness drove me nuts a couple of upgrades ago... especially with xine/kaffeine. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://www.ole.net Phone: 313-526-1111 Fax: 313-526-3333
