RE: [SLE] Running own mail and web server under Suse
Well, I not for sure about the dynamic IP portion, but I can help you with the POP. SuSE comes packaged with a program called qpopper by QualComm. Just look under YaST in the install software section. -----Original Message----- From: Matt Mendelow [SMTP:matt@poblano.com] Sent: Wednesday, January 09, 2002 8:37 AM To: suse-linux-e@suse.com Subject: [SLE] Running own mail and web server under Suse Hello - I am a recent convert from Mircro$oft wanting to bring my email and web needs in-house rather than pay an ISP for the service. I am pretty familiar with Apache so the web part should be no problem. However I have two remaining issues and I am afraid my Linux skills are still in the neo-natal stage: 1) Email - Sendmail is for SMTP which is fine. I can find the necessary documentation to configure that I think. What does one use for incoming (POP or IMAP)? Does Suse come with servers of either type? 2) Dynamic IP - I have a dynamic IP address from my ISP. Are there facilities out there compatible with Linux which could point my domain name to a dynamic IP from my cable ISP and keep track of me so that I can actually run the mail and web server from home? Thanks in advance for the assistance.
