Hercules 3D Prophet 4500 under Kernel 2.6.8.24
Hi all, I just got a box with a "Hercules 3D Prophet 4500" graphics card and expirienced that it is not supported propperly. Does anybody know how to install it? I allready downloaded the sources for the driver from www.powervr.com for that card but couldn't compile it. It says "/usr/src/linux/include/linux/modversions.h" doesn't exist. I couldn't find that file on my box. Any ideas how to compile and install that one? Thanks Martin

pin says: ./DVD1/suse/i586/kernel-syms-2.6.11.4-20a.i586.rpm: Summary : Kernel Symbol Versions ("modversions") Th package on the DVD conflicts with the upgraded kernel source (2.6.11.4-21.7). So you have to upgade immediately after installing. Best regards, -- Jos van Kan www.josvankan.tk

Best regards,
Thank you for your answer, but I am afraid I don't get what you want say! I'd like to compile the driver for the mentioned card. In the meantime I know that there was a major change regarding the way driver are built and used in Linux (since 2.6) and Hercules (or PowerVR) didn't support this change yet. Best regards Martin

Tank you Rolf-Dieter, that's what I found out in the meantime, but I might not mind to change it myself if it isn't too much of work and I can get knowing how to do it. So, if anybody could point me to the documentation for it, I might do it. regards Martin Deppe
