I am having problems when I try to install any rpm on SUSE using yast. After selecting the rpm I want installed I click accept and it starts the install after downloading and trying to install them I get an error saying the following rpm felled to install. No mater what rpm I try to installed I get the same results ever time. Any suggestions on how to fix this or what I am doing wrong Thanks David

First try:
rpm --rebuilddb
If that does not work, boot on the DVD, choose Installation and Repair
Installed System-->Automatic Repair. Alternatively reinstall the Yast
packages from the DVD.

Do you have anything running that works with the RPM database, such as the red carpet daemon or similar? In 9.2, rpm was changed so if one program locked the rpm database, it will wait until it's released and then continue operations, but in earlier versions if the rpm database was locked, other programs - such as yast - would just fail with an error message like you're getting. Could be a possibility
