Several People ask how I did that, so here it is. My estimation it is much easier than LinNeighborhood. Make sure Samba and LISa are installed from the CD. Go into YAST2, system, run level editor and make sure smbfs is running and lisa are running. If not, set them for run level 3 and 5 and start them from the run level editor. In control panel, Network, select Windows shares, put in your logon and password. In control panel, Network, select Lan Browsing, set up the Lisa Daemon using the guided setup with all defaults. I put in the name of the DNS server on the first tab of the Lan browsing dialog box, it automatically came up with my IP address and mask. After doing the setup, then click the "Apply" button. Then go to Konqueror and in the address box type in "lan:/" It should then show all of the network computers as IP address. I then pinged the computers by name, got their ip address, clicked on the IP address in Konqueror, then the SMB foldler. I then bookmarked that, then changed the bookmark name to the computer name. Art, thanks for taking this up. I tried it already for a few days - without success. However, even with your instructions I was not very successful. When I press the "Autosetup..." button and restart the lisa demon and the smbfs demon, all I get is an error message that "lan://localhost" could not be found in the tree. What it does is, it enters my own IP address in the different fields. However, if I understand it correctly, it should put in a netmask that should be used for Windows hosts to scan. However, when I enter the netmask myself, the error message disappears but then by entering "lan:/" in the address field causes Konqueror to crash! I had the same problem. According to the lisa doc, you should be able to enter IP-ranges in the configuration and it should chek the entire sub-net, e.g. 192.168.1.10-200. This, to some unknown reason, doesn't work for me. But, if I enter all the IP addresses of all Windoz computers on my net I would like to connect to, then it works. If I open Konq and enter "lan:/" in my location field, it pops up all computers. Also, for those hosts that have an entry in my /etc/hosts it'll displays the name instead of IP. Interestingly enough, although I didn't enter it into the list, it also always pops up my router IP (192.168.1.1). Here is another little quirk: if I click in Konq on the plus before the Network/LocalNetwork entry, I always get an error message "Can't find parent item lan://localhost/ in the tree. Internal error. But, if I click on the plusses before the individual servers, I see all services offered (e.g. SMB) and after clicking on the plus in front of the SMB, I see and can access all shares on my Windoz box. Here is an example of my control settings (In Control Center -> Network -> LAN Browsing): Scan these addresses: 192.168.1.135/255.255.255.0;192.168.1.10/255.255.255.0; Allowed addresses: (same as above) Broadcast network addresses: (same as above) and on the ResLISa daemon tab: Allowed addresses: (same as above) where 192.168.1.135 is my Windoz box and 192.168.1.10 is my Linux server. Here is another little quirk: if I click in Konq on the plus before the Network/LocalNetwork entry, I always get an error message "Can't find parent item lan://localhost/ in the tree. Internal error. But, if I click on the plusses before the individual servers, I see all services offered (e.g. SMB) and after clicking on the plus in front of the SMB, I see and can access all shares on my Windoz box. Here is an example of my control settings (In Control Center -> Network -> LAN Browsing): Scan these addresses: 192.168.1.135/255.255.255.0;192.168.1.10/255.255.255.0; Allowed addresses: (same as above) Broadcast network addresses: (same as above) and on the ResLISa daemon tab: Allowed addresses: (same as above) where 192.168.1.135 is my Windoz box and 192.168.1.10 is my Linux server. Make sure Samba and LISa are installed from the CD. Go into YAST2, system, run level editor and make sure smbfs is running and lisa are running. If not, set them for run level 3 and 5 and start them from the run level editor.

In control panel, Network, select Windows shares, put in your logon and password. In control panel, Network, select Lan Browsing, set up the Lisa Daemon using the guided setup with all defaults. I put in the name of the DNS server on the first tab of the Lan browsing dialog box, it automatically came up with my IP address and mask. After doing the setup, then click the "Apply" button. Then go to Konqueror and in the address box type in "lan:/" It should then show all of the network computers as IP address.

I then pinged the computers by name, got their ip address, clicked on the IP address in Konqueror, then the SMB foldler. I then bookmarked that, then changed the bookmark name to the computer name.
