Try this instead. At the boot prompt put APIC all by itself. that is what I have to do to get mine to boot/install/upgrade via the CD/DVD.
Try it. What'ya got to lose?
I have tried it (with lowercase letters ?!) no change in the behavior of my box. Maybe I will try to compile the 2.6 kernel source on my 9.0 SUSE box to find out that the kernel is the issue or there is something wrong with the shipped SUSE kernel. Can anyone point me to a good kernel compiling how to? (I have never done kernel compiling before). Zsolt

Another way to try is enableapic which is another form I had to use on one of my Compaq servers. Try that as well. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://www.ole.net Phone: 313-526-1111 Fax: 313-526-3333

Hi, I have tried that but it does not work. The funny thing is that i have compiled the 2.6.6 kernel and it works just fine. I cannot imagine what could be the problem with the SuSE built kernel. Now how can I install the new SuSE? Any suggestions? Zsolt
