IBM Thinkpad R40 wants dual boot
Hello All, A friend of mine just got a new IBM Thinkpad R40. It came with Windows XP Pro, but he wants to set up a dual boot system with SuSE 9.0. As it stands right now, he has one 40 GB hard drive and xp is taking up all of that space. I was wondering...is there a way to 'resize' the xp section of the drive so that we can have 20GB of space for SuSE ? We are going with the FTP version of SuSE to start out with. He said that if he liked it, he would buy the boxed version for his home machine. Thanks for any help. -=Thinker
Hi You could try to boot from the resque-disk, and see if there is an option for repartitioning the HD.. (I know Acer 432 Travelmates CD has this). If not, then You can use SuSE installation to repartition the drive.. Usually just accept the values it succests.. But read them thru with thought to know what it is saying.. Bootin afterwards with Grub is easy, and with Acer laptop it worked "out-of-the-box". Jaska. Thinker kirjoitti viestissään (lähetysaika Tiistai 20. Tammikuuta 2004 00:22):

Suse Installation can do that for you, NTFS is no problem for suse 9. It worked for me on two XP-desktops, so it should work on that notebook too. Sven
