Hi Charles, I uncommented microtek2 and installed in generic scanner, microtek2. However, it seems to work but when I run scan the scanner acquires only a black page, do you know what is the problem? Jose

Sorry for the tardy reply. The answer is: I don't know since I am not familiar with that scanner at all. Things to check: (1) Does it work in another OS? (2) It is making strange noises? Is the scanner unlocked? (3) Is it plugged in properly? You can try putting: option dump 2 in you /etc/sane.d/microtek2.conf, send the output to the list and see if we can figure it out. If all else fails, you might consider asking on a sane list. Parport scanners are kind of dicey in Linux since it usually involve some weird proprietary and undocumented form of parport to SCSII conversion and have to be reverse engineered. It is much better to purchase a true SCSII or USB scanner. Charles --
Ever heard of .cshrc? That's a city in Bosnia. Right? (Discussion in comp.os.linux.misc on the intuitiveness of commands.)
