How do I stop the CDROM (Actually a DVD with music CDs) from opening Konqueror when I insert a CD? There are thing I truly despise about Windoze. This behavior is near the top of the list. I believe I was asked if I wanted it to act like this, and I clicked the wrong option. Now I don't know how to stop it. Please, if anybody knows how to make this desktop act like a proper user environment, please let me know. KDE 3.5a Steven

KDE 3.5a
Execute this magic incantation: dcop suseplugger HWHandler popupConfiguration from a shell running under KDE (say, in a Konsole window). You'll see the SuSEPlugger configuration interface where you can control the actions triggered by the appearance of various kinds of removeable media.

Thanks for the info Randall. I'm adding this article to my disk based repository of knowledge. My brother has this kind of problem in reverse..

Why not create an article in the support data base in the opensuse.org wiki? http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:SDB http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Howto Greetings from Stuhr hartmut

I also have the same problems. I tried the command and got:
bash: dcop: command not found
Here's the answer: /opt/kde3/bin/dcop Here's how to find the answer: % locate '*/dcop' /opt/kde3/bin/dcop /opt/kde3/include/kdevelop/interfaces/extensions/dcop /opt/kde3/share/doc/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/dcop /opt/kde3/share/sip/dcop % file $( locate '*/dcop' ) /opt/kde3/bin/dcop: ELF 32-bit ... /opt/kde3/include/kdevelop/interfaces/extensions/dcop: directory /opt/kde3/share/doc/HTML/en/kdelibs-apidocs/dcop: directory /opt/kde3/share/sip/dcop: directory Voila. It would not be a bad idea to put /opt/kde3/bin in your PATH environment variable.

Bob S. Bob, I believe that you need to run dcop as the user currently logged in, not root (unless you are logged in as root). Good luck!

Yup, that was it. Seems I am always thinking "root" when I have to change things. Thanks James And thank you also Randall for reminding me about paths. Bob S.

Thanks Randall. I tried that, and thought I had accomplished something positive. I blanked out the first field. I only had an icon to go on. I removed whatever had been in the first field (the one that has the round icon.) I don't know what has changed since then, but it's back to launching KFM when a CD is inserted. It appears the UI is in need of a bit of fleshing out. The real problem is that the daemon seems to be fighting the KsCD for control of the physical device, thus causing the CD to stop playing a minute or so after I first insert it. Suggestions? Steven
