how to configure an FTP Server for install several machines with Suse 8 Pro
How can I configure an FTP server to use it as media for install Suse 8.0 Pro in several machines which doesn't have CD? I've copied all seven CDs but I'm having many problems. I think I have to create a "root" file but I'm not sure how. Is there any instructions/tips in any site?. Thanks for your help. Regards, Freddy Chavez.

The number one error in doing this is using cp to copy the files and missing the .S.u.S.E-* files that are in the root of each cd. Use tar to copy. There's this sdb article which should help a bit: http://sdb.suse.de/en/sdb/html/daniel_ftpinst_local.html -- -ckm

Preparing your own installation server Just copy the whole installation tree to your local disk and make it available via network. /Dee
