[opensuse] openSUSE 12.1 rpm problem
I am having a problem with relocating the installation of the Intel Fortran and C Compilers on my openSUSE 12.1 64 bit system. When I installed the compilers in the default location /opt/intel the root partition was !85% filled, a situation that I wanted to rectify by moving the compilers to a different partition on a larger HD in the system. This can be accomplished by specifying the non-default location in the Intel compiler. So, I uninstalled the Intel rpm's via Yast. This removed the original installation. I then installed the compilers in the new location. Unfortunately, Yast/Software Management still finds an rpm in the old location. When I attempted removing the rpm I got the following error message: Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: %preun(intel-compilerpro-common-273-12.1-8.noarch) scriptlet failed, exit status 1 error: intel-compilerpro-common-273-12.1-8.noarch: erase failed The Software Manager tells me that the following files are still on the system. However, the subdirectories are still there but are empty of the files that are listed. intel-compilerpro-common-273 - Intel(R) Composer XE 2011 Update 8 for Linux* /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273 /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/Documentation /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/Documentation/en_US /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/Documentation/en_US/clicense /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/Documentation/ja_JP /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/Documentation/ja_JP/clicense /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/compilervars.csh /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/compilervars.sh /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/compilervars_global.csh /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/compilervars_global.sh /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/en_US /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/en_US/uninstall.txt /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/ja_JP /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/ja_JP/uninstall.txt /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/bin/uninstall.sh /opt/intel/composer_xe_2011_sp1.8.273/pkg_bin 17 files total Subprocess failed. Error: RPM failed: error: %preun(intel-compilerpro-common-273-12.1-8.noarch) scriptlet failed, exit status 1 error: intel-compilerpro-common-273-12.1-8.noarch: erase failed A further complication, during the installation, to the non-default location was that the Intel installer claimed that there was still a rpm in the origional subdirectory (/opt/intel). This resulted in complications when I attempted compiling GAMESS (a quantum chemistry package) I have been able to successfully compile the program with the Intel compilers in a previous openSUSE installation. Finally, Yast/Software Management doesn't find any of the Intel rpm's in the new location. I'm sure that the reader has deduced that I don't have a clue as to how to solve the problems. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. -- Stephen P.
