Hi List Solaris has commands: dos2unix and unix2dos. Does Linux have similar commands? Cheers Jeremy
They're out there, but if you're in a pinch you can use perl -p -i~ -e 's/\r//g' filename.ext to go from dos to unix perl -p -i~ -e 's/\n/\r\n/g' filename.ext to go from unix to dos On Monday 17 December 2001 20:29, Jeremy Bainbridge-Smith wrote:

SuSE 7.3 aliases /usr/bin/recode as dos2unix and dos2unix. To see this yourself, type "alias". -- JAY VOLLMER JVOLLMER1@MN.RR.COM TEXT REFS DOUBLEPLUSUNGOOD SELFTHINK VERGING CRIMETHINK IGNORE FULLWISE

Hmmm, so does 7.2. Are there any advantages to using recode for this task over tr or perl?
suse used to ship with a package called duconv but i dont know if it does anymore. you can probably get it from the 6.3 tree on the suse ftp site. use it like duconv -u dostextfile.txt unixtextfile this will convert a dos text file to a unix text file (-d does the opposite) On Tue, 18 Dec 2001, Jeremy Bainbridge-Smith wrote:
