Hey all, Wonder when the SUSE guys are planning to fix the screensaver workings? I believe Leen mentioned this first as broken, they would not start, so I thought the KDE3 3.5.3 updates were going to fix the problem. Mine still does not start after waiting the time I have selected for it to start. Leen, did you come up on an answer to this? I don't recall seeing anything in your emails that suggested it was working yet. Problems, problems, problems with 10.1. Why release something with this many bugs is beyond me, unless MS has purchased Novell when we weren't looking! sigh.... regards, Lee -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Well, I am waiting for it, too (particularly because my Samtron tft monitor starts to "remember" pictures displayed for a longer time), but on the other hand, I wouldn't consider the "SUSE guys" to be slow: I've sent my message about missing icons in KDE 3.5.3 on wednesday 14:27, Stephan Binner answered 13 minutes later. I opened a bug report yesterday at noon and it was solved 15.05... I just guess, the screensaver issue is not the only thing they have to care about. And I had a perfectly working KDE 3.5.2 before, there was no need to update, I just did it out of this strange feeling "I want to have and enjoy the very latest". As 3.5.3 is really new (it appeared for download at SUSE even before it was announced on the KDE homepage), I'm not surprised that there are some bugs, I'd rather wonder, if there weren't any. So I guess to be on the safe side one should always wait a while before instaling the latest stuff. If I can't wait, I'll have to take some "risk" - I can't blame SUSE or somebody else if I couldn't control my "horniness" for having the latest :-) Apart from my own impatience, I just like to thank all the developpers (Suse, KDE and many others!) for making available such a great product! And of course I'll be happy, when the screensaver works again :-) Daniel -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Switzerland professional photography: http://www.daniel-bauer.com special interest site: http://www.bauer-nudes.com -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com

Not the first, but that doesn't matter.

Nope. :) But I just came back from doing shoppings, and my screen was black. Powermanagement kicks in after 7 min. The screensaver does kick in after switching to a text console (e.g. <Ctrl>+<Alt>-<F2>). I've just reported that.
I don't recall seeing anything in your emails that suggested it was working yet.
I don't recall writing something like that... ;)
Problems, problems, problems with 10.1. Why release something with this many bugs is beyond me, unless MS has purchased Novell when we weren't looking! sigh....
Hello! :) You're generalizing. The screensaver was working before 3.5.3. Also the icon-problem did not exist before 3.5.3. BTW, I think SUSE will be more carefull in the future before adding something that's not quite ready. I noticed one can vote for a bug. Currently there are no votes. So people who care and want this bug fixed, come on, and vote! ;) (I did) https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=181122 Cheers, Leen -- Check the headers for your unsubscription address For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the archives at http://lists.suse.com Please read the FAQs: suse-linux-e-faq@suse.com
