Folks, I have the following setup HP ze4220 laptop w/builtin in wired ethernet card which works. SuSE 8.0 co-installed w/ M$ XP Linksys WPC11 v3 wireless network card Card seems to work under M$. Linksys sent me "linux-wlan-ng-0.1.14-pre1.tar.gz" I tried to <make> this package, but ran into several dead ends. However, I tried to install prism2_pci modules from the 8.0 release with the following results > modprobe prism2_pci /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_pci.o: init_module: No such device Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_pci.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_pci.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_pci.o: insmod prism2_pci failed However, the files exist /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/pcmcia/prism2_cs.o /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/pcmcia-external/prism2_cs.o /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_cs.o /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_pci.o /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_plx.o /lib/modules/2.4.18-64GB-SMP/wlan-ng/prism2_usb.o I can't find the documentation to sort this out. Hey Bob, One thing I had trouble with was the kernel pcmcia drivers. As soon as I switched to the external ones, there was no problem. To do so, go to /etc/sysconfig, and edit the pcmcia file. The first entry (i think) is PCMCIA_SYSTEM. try setting that to external. See if this helps any. -- So I went by, 'cause I had the time Told the northern lights to keep shining. Mike, Thanks for the reply. However, I can't seem to make the final connection. Using yast2, it doesn't seem to recognize the wlan card. BTW it has been given a different ID than eth0. For you or someone else here are more details. psock: 0 bus: 00 devfn: 0a.0 cardbus: 03

I'm confused about the PCMCI_PCIC_OPTS settings. Bob Stanfield 29 Ledge Lane Pipersville, PA 18947 Voice 610-294-9884 FAX 610-294-8119 On Sun, 2 Mar 2003, Michael Sacco wrote:
