I just downloaded and installed, without any problems, KDE 2.2.2.for SuSE 7.1. There seems to be a font problem, however. If I open a default app from the task bar the fonts for the pulldown menus are fine. However, I added NEdit to the task bar using the menu editor and when it opens all of the pulldown menus are in what appears to be Kanji, or some sort of oriental script. One the other hand, FileRunner, started in the same manner has normal script. When I open the Package Manager the 'Building Package Window' at the bottom of the window has a blue bar, but there is no package list in the display window. What's going on? What's the solution? Thanks in advance.

I decided to get the new NVidia drivers by using YOU rather than downloading
them directly from the NVidia site and doing 'rpm -U' myself. I know that YOU
gets them from nvidia anyway, but I thought I'd try it (clutching at straws).
Amazingly, after the Update the drivers now seem to be stable - the 1541
drivers would always give me AGP problems on previous attempts.
I then put KDE-2.2.2 on top, removing the news ticker which seemed
particularly problematic last time I tried, and it now seems to work ok.
One thing that is broken though is that when I launch kdm going to level 5,
the screen is all garbled and displays as three copies of the same kdm screen.
Doing startx works fine, fortunately, and I notice no X session errors so far
(kmail used to give loads in KDE 2.2.1 and was quite flaky).
As this is the last 2.2.x release I hope thats all sorted.

See if the setting "KDE Control Center>Style>Apply fonts and colors to
non-KDE apps" is set and try to uncheck the box, and see if it helps. You
might need to logout/login from KDE first.
