[opensuse] undeletable emails
I think I just made up the word "undeletable", but you get the point. Okay, KDE4 has been freezing on me. I know, that's another thread, but I'm leaving it alone right now. But, I was checking my mail with KMail recently and my system froze again. (These are true lockups - I can't get the hard drive light to light up even by pressing the power button or tyring ctrl+alt+delete.) So I do a hard reboot. The problem is that it was in the middle of downloading my mail and, though it redownloaded the ones that had already downloaded, the ones from before now show nothing in the message pane and will not delete or move. How can I get rid of these things? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

What about the Alt+SysRq method? Do these in order to try and get a working system from a lock: Alt+SysRq+K (saK = Kills all processes attached to the current vt) Alt+SysRq+E (tErm = Send SIGTERM to all processes) Alt+SysRq+I (kILL = Send SIGKILL to all processes) Alt+SysRq+S (Sync = Synchronize with disk; flush write caches) Alt+SysRq+U (Unmount = Remounts all filesystems r/o) Alt+SysRq+B (reBoot = Reboot the system) In Linux, Ctrl+Alt+Del is handled by userspace applications while Alt+SysRq+<Key> combinations are handled entirely within the kernel. Next time you are using text vt, try Alt+SysRq+/ or Alt+SysRq+<SPACE> to get a listing of Alt+SysRq commands. -- Boyd Stephen Smith Jr. ,= ,-_-. =. bss@iguanasuicide.net ((_/)o o(\_)) ICQ: 514984 YM/AIM: DaTwinkDaddy `-'(. .)`-' http://iguanasuicide.net/ \_/

I'll have to print this out. I used to use a couple of them, but did not know most of them. I still would have been surprised if they worked (I tried a lot of other things), but they are certainly worth a try if it happens again. Okay, well, an update fixed all of this. I just updated yesterday and wasn't expecting a new one today, but figured I'd try with yast from the console. No more freezes and could do something about those extra emails. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
