Oh, here we go again. Are you, or your users, so befuddled by computers that if it doesn't look EXACTLY like a Mac, you're incapable of using it??? Why are you doing this -= it's an insult to the entire community which has built this from scratch, most of whom were never paid a single cent for their work -- now you have to further deny them even the moral support and credit, by trying to pass of their work as that of Apple. How long have you been in the habit of slapping people who give you useful things as gifts which you actually value and use? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

No. Windows is reminiscent of KDE.
And why cant Alfredo be allowed having his desktop as he wants it?
I'm just saying that if he WANTS a Mac, then he should just go out and buy one, rather than taking all the hard work of a bunch of individuals, and then masquerade it as something else. When it comes right down to it, that sort of *chicanery* is an insult to everyone who has made Linux what it is today.

Agreed. One has the right to face whatever panorama one prefers as the work day proceeds. Just remember: appearance is a minor aspect; behavior is what it's all about! If you appreciate the refined nature of the Macintosh User Interface, the only way you're going to get it is by using a Mac. You're missing the far deeper point. If you buy a Corvette, and you're happy with it being a Corvette, why would you throw new sheet metal on it to make it look like some other car -- be that other car an entry-level Mercedes or a high end Rolls Royce. Why the obsession with DISGUISING Linux as OSX? It's not like KDE, et cetera are eyesores. Who are you trying to fool, precisely? And why are you trying to fool them?

Aaron, back to basics: "Linux is about choice ... " If I like to make my screen look like a space shuttle, jungle, igloo, anything that gives no idea what OS is running the show, or to mimic some other OS, it is my choice. If I can't get how to do that myself, can't find satisfying solutions on the web, and come here to ask people for advice, than I don't expect to read morals that is not right, but advice how to do that. In your example: Wish: I want a Corvette interior and machinery with Mercedes exterior. Question: Do you know the shop that can do that? The question was not is it right that I like that combination, the question was how to do it. Who can help me to fullfill my wish? If you don't like the idea, all you can do is to tell me that you don't like combination, but not five posts in the row. If you like solutions offered by manufacturers, have no money to pay for change, don't give a broken penny for car remodeling, that is fine with me, just don't harass me with your opinion. I will not change mine. -- Regards, Rajko -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
Aaron... you right...... But there're some graphycs that I like.... for example the menubar, icons... Let's take your example... the corvette..... let say You bought now.... but there is something missing.... like steerwheel and you decide to change it for another. It would be the same scenario.... don't you think. Alfredo. On Sat, 2007-12-29 at 18:42 -0500, Aaron Kulkis wrote:

Alfredo, The dude was making a joke, and a hilarious one, in my opinion. Lighten up. Personally, I hate the OSX look. Their dock is a major pain in the butt for those of us who want to do things faster, and watching the damn icons bouncing up and down until you get to the one you want is really dizzying at times. Things to be aware of... Although e16 and e17 can co-exist the available SuSE based RPMS replace e16 with e17. Otherwise the SuSE e17 RPMs run fine and give no other problems. If you want to use the Entrance login screen, unless the RPM has been modified since I last used it, the /etc/init.d/xdm script needs to be modified. (and possibly some other configuration files depending on your setup). I can supply details of how I did it if required. The enlightenment forums are closed forums. All the Macs for the past couple of years have been based on Intel x86 processors, so in principle, yes. But in reality, it seems that it depends on how resourceful you are. MacOS itself (apart from the open-source Unix infrastructure) is supposed to rely on Mac-specific hardware, but I seem to recall hearing about people finding work-arounds for those interlocks. Not to mention the fact that Apple already tried and abandoned a 3rd-party hardware licensing scheme back in the 90s. Nonetheless, Apple's revenues are no longer so strongly weighted toward Macintosh hardware. The iPods are very significant source of revenue, as are music and video sales via the iTunes store. Apple is still very much a proprietary hardware and software operation and I'd be surprised to see that change, but I'd definitely be a lot more surprised by non-ballistic porcine flight.

No, but they do rely on the stupidity of their userbase. Their revenue is based on telling their users what it is the users want, not the other way around, which is how they got to be successful. -- ---Bryen--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

You could not be more wrong. Apple's ability to attract users and create usable and accessible user interfaces—something they do better than anyone else and have been doing for over two decades—is _extensive_ user testing. In fact, they were pioneers in really listening to (or, more precisely, watching) their users. They never let designers give users hints during their user testing. They watch and listen (users are instructed to verbalize their thought processes as they use the software or hardware being tested) but give no feedback. Then they use those results to improve and refine their interfaces. Apple's software is usually less feature-laden and some, especially highly technical users, tend to find it overly simplified, but one can definitely make the case that this is a better approach than Microsoft's "never say no to a feature request" practice. please stop this non-sense. I know about a dozen mac users, and none of them even approach being stupid. Few of them are interested in computers beyond the utility they offer .... m8, I like to use linux a lot. The cool thing about linux is that you can do what ever you want with it. It's cool to see a Intel x86 with an OS linux (SuSE) + a MAC Theme.... don't you think? It a classic..... Alfredo. On Sat, 2007-12-29 at 08:44 -0800, Randall R Schulz wrote:

Use this tutorial. http://baghira.sourceforge.net/OS_Clone-en.php The baghira binary or source can be also found in packman repository. Enjoy it as long you can. It won't work with KDE 4 anymore. ;) But there won't be no need, coz we get oxygen. - -- All the best, Peter J.
